Cabinet Painting in Miami, FL

Painting sound cabinets changes a kitchen for much less than replacing them. In Miami we check first for water damage at the sink base and for thermofoil doors that have lifted from heat or steam, because paint cannot fix either. Good boxes and doors are degreased, sanded, primed and finished with a hard enamel.

Many Miami kitchens have solid cabinet boxes with a finish that looks tired: yellowed lacquer, dark stain from an older remodel, or a factory coating gone dull around the handles. If the boxes are sound and the doors close properly, painting can change the look of the kitchen without tearing it out. We check first for swollen particle board near the sink and dishwasher and for peeling plastic film on thermofoil doors, because those do not hold paint well and you should know that before you pay for anything.

Doors and drawer fronts come off and each one is numbered, along with its hinges, so it goes back in the same place. Kitchen grease is the enemy of cabinet paint, so every surface is washed with a degreaser, then sanded dull. A bonding primer goes on next. The finish is a hard enamel made for cabinets, applied in thin coats with a light sanding between them. The frames are painted in place, with counters, floors and appliances fully covered and the kitchen closed off from the house.

Humid air slows drying, so cabinet work in Miami should not be rushed. Enamel feels dry within hours but takes much longer to reach full hardness, and doors stacked or hung too early will stick or mark. We keep the house air conditioned during the job and tell you when the kitchen can go back to normal use. You can usually still reach the fridge and sink while we work. Ask us about new handles and soft bumpers at the same visit, since the doors are already off.

Cabinet painting in Miami: common questions

Can my thermofoil or laminate cabinets be painted?

House painters Miami

Sometimes. Laminate that is firmly bonded can be painted with the right bonding primer. Thermofoil that is peeling or bubbling near the oven or dishwasher is a poor base, and those doors are better replaced. We look at every door before we quote.

Will painted cabinets stick or peel in Miami humidity?

Not when the prep and curing are done properly. Sticking comes from closing doors before the enamel has hardened. Peeling comes from paint over grease or a glossy surface. Degreasing, sanding, bonding primer and patient drying prevent both.

Do you paint the inside of the cabinets too?

Only if you ask for it. Most customers have the doors, drawer fronts, frames and visible ends painted and leave the insides as they are. Painting interiors adds time and cost, and the quote shows it as a separate line.
